The ZZ Shield

The ZZ Face Shield is based off of a design by Erik Cederberg and 3DVerkstan. The Veterans Health Administration has reviewed the 3DVerkstan design for use in the clinical setting, and the National Institute of Health has approved its use when fabricated as instructed. ALT3D modified 3DVerkstan's design to create the ZZ Face Shield to maximize production during this crisis. Initially the face shields consisted of a 3D-printed plastic headband made of PLA and an 11 x 11 inch transparent vinyl sheeting. Due to the massive shortage of Personal Protective Equipment and the urgent need for increased availability, our company has developed a strategy for producing thousands of face shields a day through injection molding. The shields are now made of glass filled polypropylene and PET.
